The Island Port ELizabeth

Located just outside Port Elizabeth on the Seaview Road the Island Nature reserve is one of the best kept secrets amongst local hikers and birdwatchers. The reserve is about 480ha big with dense coastal indigenous bush including Outeniqua Yellow woods, Hard pear, klein perde pram and many more. The trees are marked on the route making the hikes more interesting.

The Island Reserve comprises of a grassed picnic area with a number of hiking trails into the reserve. The hiking trails range in distance from 300 meters to 16km.

The reserve is also popular amongst birdwatchers offering a wide variety of Eastern Cape bird species along the many trails as well as at a bird pond.
