Guinea Fowl Trail. A
hike along the valley of the Baakens River from it's
source to Settlers' Park, a short distance from the Bay.
Much of the way is forested and it is often difficult to

Elizabeth. This walk
can be broken down into shorter segments.

Roseate Tern Trail. A 9 km
walk with considerable variety. It takes one along the
beach past the Cape Receife lighthouse and
Thunderbolt Reef, through part of the nature reserve
where there is a bird hide for viewing the water fowl
and through the dunes to an observation point which
formed part of the defences during the Second World War.
The nature of this trail is such that it also can be
broken down into a variety of shorter walks.
-
Sacramento Trail. A very
popular 8 km round-trip hike between Schoenmakerskop and
Sardinia Bay either along the beach or along the
bushy dunes overlooking the beach. It is named for a
Portuguese ship which sank on reefs offshore. The ship
was carrying cannons cast in Macau on the China coast and one of those that
was recovered stands at the Schoenmakerskop end of the
trail.
